We have added picnic tables to our shelter. We have received 5 tables with a 7 more to arrive from the PCHS carpentry class. The shelter can be rented for your birthday parties and reunions.


Part 2 Literature Fair Pictures
Hillsboro Elementary School hosted its Literature Fair yesterday, showcasing 19 projects with 12 scoring to advanced to the county level. The students invested considerable time and effort into their projects and a great outcome is anticipated in the next round of competition on Monday at PCHS. Hillsboro Elementary school recognizes students and staff with perfect attendance for September. As a special reward the children will enjoy outside games. Those who had also received the reward but not pictured, Fenna, Rayne, Simon, Symphony, Willie, and Tucker.

Next week is National School Lunch Week, you are invited to eat with your child. If you plan to have lunch with your child, please inform the school in advance so we can arrange the necessary meals.


Appreciation is extended to the Green Bank Observatory for its generous donation to Hillsboro Elementary.



Hillsboro Elementary students participated in a field trip to various first responders locations, including Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, 911 center, the courthouse, sheriff's department, and Marlinton Fire Department. We are grateful for everyone who took the time out of their busy schedules to educate our students. Special thanks also to Kenny Woods, State Farm, and Luci Mosesso with Pocahontas 4H.

Our first responders field trip is scheduled for tomorrow, please note that although we will be indoors most of the day, tennis shoes and jackets are recommended in case of rain.


Pocahontas County Schools staff enjoyed meeting children and families during Roadkill in Marlinton on September 28. We thank "Save the Children" for donating books and games.
